This piece was so fun to read Kate! Of course, orange is always fun to ready about - it just brings so much pop to the world. But the way you wrote about it - the rhythm of the sentences and the paragraphs, the juxtapositions of images, it had an incredible lightness of being. Thank you!

Thanks so much, Anne! I so appreciate your kind words.

Great winter topic! I love mandarin oranges, but I’m otherwise in the anti-orange camp, except as in small doses — along with Kelly green, hot pink, bright yellow, and anything neon which I truly despise and wish did not exist - it literally hurts me to look at it! Nudge the color wheel to coral, however, and I’m in love.

Thanks for this piece, Kate. I share your love of orange. Especially in this season, I want the pop it gives every room, vista, table. The bowl of clementines on your clubhouse table was a generous and beautiful addition to our discussion yesterday. The zesty aroma that wafted up when people peeled and ate them is like Proust's madeleines to me.

Thank you, Alice! I agree, that zesty aroma is as enlivening in winter as the color itself.

Thanks for being at the clubhouse yesterday and last week, and always. We’re going to miss you!

In February, my favorite fruit is the honey tangerine. Reading this piece is like eating one: sweet and juicy, leaving a longing for more.

i couldn't agree more! i have orange accents in my whole home, including my beloved orange espresso machine. it's over 15 years old and i despair thinking about what would happen if i had to replace it. I love your writings- thanks for the inspiration!

Oh, an orange espresso machine! What a wonderful thing! May it live forever.

How lovely, Kate. I just bought pajamas on deep discount and they are a somewhat garish shade of coral/orange. Not on my color palette for “above the waist,” but since I won’t be leaving the house in them, I’m enjoying the pop of brightness! I’m with you on the cloth napkin crusade, and I love those little chair prints.

Thank you, Elissa! It’s so nice to have a new pop of color to wear - even if only in the privacy of your home 😂. Many thanks for your kind words.
