In my decades of work as a designer of 3D spaces, I had to make presentations almost every day. Consequently, I do not fear these things. However, I rarely finish any of my 2D art work. I get bored once I think I've solved the composition problem. It's also probably a secret way to keep everything stacked up in a drawer! Hmmm...
So great, Brenda. As the oldest child, I don’t get paralyzed by sharing, but of course there’s always a hint of imposter syndrome. You’re so right—you never know who you’re going to touch or inspire with your work. That’s the magic.
I so wish I could have been on Martha’s Vineyard for the opening of your exhibit. Thank you for sharing your fears about sharing your work. I definitely identify with them. It’s something I’m working on and it’s nice to know I’m not alone. I love the painting in the field. It speaks volumes to sharing beauty.
All so true! I use a pen name, that helps. And try not to let the one negative (or tepid) outweigh the dozens of positive ones. But public speaking – I guess I’ve gotten more comfortable with it only because I don’t care as much anymore! My mindset is that I’ll probably be embarrassing myself, but so what?
I totally share your fear but it’s so important to get our work into the world. Who wouldn’t love the story of Innisvail! I’m so happy you did this exhibit.
Lovely, Brenda! Really enjoyed this one.

Fabulous piece, my dear. As always.

I want to get to that mindset!
